Decophony for guitar quartet
Decophony for guitar quartet
Sheet Music
in parts of ten
Decophony is a further exploration of the ten-tone techniques used in my earlier composition Decaphon. It was originally composed for guitar and marimba, and I arranged it as a guitar quartet for my album Deep Thought Quiet Space. Rather than adhering to strict tone rows, the music cycles through pitch sets extracted from the various ten-tone rows being used.
Rather than go into a full discussion of the compositional techniques, I would prefer to let you enjoy the music for what it is.
The title Decophony, (pronounced like “cacophony”) is a play on Decaphon, which basically means “ten tone”.
The full score and separate parts are included. Each part is presented in standard notation only, as well as standard notation with tablature.
